Cancellation and Refund Policy
Version 1.0 (October 2026)
This policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions. It does not affect your statutory rights.
Our standard cancellation charges are intended to reflect our reasonable losses and the work already done. They are not penalties and do not affect your statutory rights.
1. How to cancel or change a booking
Please call 0800 007 6666 or email info@abtransport.co.uk as soon as possible, quoting your booking reference. We will confirm your cancellation or change in writing.
We will try to accommodate changes to the date, time or addresses. A change may alter the price; if you do not accept the new price, you may cancel under this policy.
2. Before your booking is confirmed
You can withdraw a booking enquiry at any time before we confirm it, free of charge.
3. Cancellation more than 24 hours before collection
We will normally retain 50% of your deposit and refund the other 50%, together with any balance you have paid.
4. Cancellation within 24 hours of collection
This includes cancelling on the collection day before work begins. We will normally retain the full deposit. Any balance you have paid will be refunded.
Example: £200 booking with a £100 deposit
Cancelled more than 24 hours beforehand: £50 retained, £50 refunded.
Cancelled within 24 hours: £100 retained, no deposit refunded.
5. Reasonable losses
If the amount we would retain is more than our reasonable losses and the work we have undertaken (for example because we can rebook the van for that time), we will refund the difference. We may ask you for, or provide, an explanation of how a charge was calculated.
6. Your legal cancellation rights
You may also have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of making the contract under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Where that right applies, it will take priority over this policy.
7. If we cancel
If we cancel because we cannot fulfil your booking, you will ordinarily receive a full refund of everything you have paid. Where possible, we will also offer you a new date.
If we cancel because the goods are prohibited, materially different from your description, or access is unsafe, we will explain why and agree with you what is fair, taking account of any work already undertaken.
8. Events outside anyone's control
If severe weather or another event outside our reasonable control prevents the service, we will offer a new date or a full refund of the amount paid for the services not provided.
9. How refunds are paid
Refunds are paid to the original payment method, normally within 14 days of the cancellation being confirmed.
