Terms and Conditions
Version 1.0 (October 2026)
These terms explain how A to B Transport ("we", "us") provides van and driver collection and delivery services to you ("you", the customer). Please read them before sending a booking enquiry. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1. About us and our services
A to B Transport is based in Sefton, Merseyside. We provide a van and driver to transport your goods from a collection address to a delivery address, mainly across Sefton and the North West, with longer journeys by arrangement.
We are a transport service. We are not a removals, packing, storage or assembly service, unless we agree otherwise with you in writing.
You can contact us on 0800 007 6666 or at info@abtransport.co.uk.
2. Quotations, booking enquiries and confirmed bookings
Online quotation: an estimate produced by our website calculator. It is not an offer we are bound by, and it is not a booking.
Booking enquiry: a request you send us through the website. It is not a confirmed booking, and no contract exists at this stage.
Confirmed booking: a contract is only formed when we accept your enquiry and send you written confirmation (for example by email) of the agreed price, collection arrangements and payment deadlines.
3. How online quotations are calculated
Our calculator uses a fixed charge of £50 plus £1.50 per mile, measured as the full road route our van drives: from our base to the collection address, then to the delivery address, then back to our base.
The quotation includes 15 minutes for loading and 15 minutes for unloading. It covers the journey only. It does not include toll charges, ferry costs, parking charges or additional waiting time.
We may revise a quotation before confirming your booking if the details you gave were incomplete or inaccurate (for example the goods, their size or weight, the addresses or access), or if the journey needs a different route. Once a booking is confirmed, we will only change the agreed price as explained in these terms (for example for extra waiting time or charges you agreed to), and we will tell you before doing so wherever possible.
4. Our right to accept or decline bookings
We may accept or decline any booking enquiry, for example where we have no availability, the goods are unsuitable for our van, the journey is impractical, or we cannot carry the goods safely or lawfully. If we decline, you will not be charged.
5. Collection and delivery information
You must give us accurate and complete details of the collection and delivery addresses, the date and time, and contact names and telephone numbers for both addresses. Someone must be present at each address at the agreed time.
6. Loading and unloading
You are responsible for loading and unloading your goods, and for arranging enough people to do this safely at both addresses. Our driver may help with small, lightweight items where practical, at their discretion, but this is not guaranteed.
Our driver may decline to help with, or to accept, any item they reasonably consider unsafe to handle or carry.
7. Packing, securing and preparing goods
You must pack and prepare your goods so they are suitable for road transport: boxes sealed, fragile items protected, liquids sealed, and furniture emptied with loose parts secured. Our driver will secure the load in the van using reasonable care.
8. Describing your goods
You must describe your goods accurately, including what is inside boxes and packages, and tell us their approximate quantity, dimensions and weight. If the goods differ materially from your description, we may revise the price, refuse items, or cancel the booking as explained in clause 19.
9. Heavy, oversized or awkward items
You must tell us in advance about any item that is unusually heavy, large, or awkward to handle. We may need to agree special arrangements, or we may be unable to carry it.
10. Access and parking
You must make sure our van can lawfully and safely park close to both addresses. Please tell us about restricted access, permits, height or width restrictions, or private roads. Parking, permit, congestion, toll and ferry charges are payable by you where they arise from the journey or the addresses, and we will tell you about any known charges before confirming your booking.
11. Stairs and restricted access
Please tell us about stairs, lifts, narrow hallways or long carrying distances. If access is materially more difficult than described, loading may take longer (see clause 12), or it may be unsafe to continue.
12. Waiting time and delays caused by the customer
Each booking includes 15 minutes for loading and 15 minutes for unloading. Additional waiting or loading time is charged at £50 per hour, per man, calculated proportionately. We will tell you when additional time begins wherever practical.
13. Failed collections and deliveries
If we cannot collect or deliver because nobody is available, the address is wrong, access is not possible, or the goods are not ready, we will try to contact you. Where the failure is caused by you, we may charge for the journey and time reasonably incurred, as set out in our Cancellation and Refund Policy. If goods cannot be delivered, we will agree with you what happens next, such as a further delivery attempt at additional cost or returning the goods.
14. Prohibited and restricted goods
We will not carry the goods listed in our Prohibited & Restricted Goods Policy, which forms part of these terms. We may refuse or stop carrying any goods we reasonably believe are prohibited, unsafe or illegal.
15. Fragile, valuable or unusual goods
You must tell us before booking about any fragile, high-value, sentimental, antique, or unusual items. We may only carry them if we agree to do so in writing beforehand. We recommend you carry cash, jewellery, important documents and irreplaceable items yourself.
16. Insurance, loss and damage
We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill. If we damage or lose your goods while they are in our care because we did not use reasonable care, we will be responsible for the loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of our failure.
We are not responsible for loss or damage caused by inadequate packing by you, by the inherent nature of the goods, or by events outside our reasonable control, except where we caused or contributed to it.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
17. Our driver's responsibilities
Our driver will drive safely and lawfully, take reasonable care of your goods while in the van, secure the load, and treat you and your property with respect.
18. Damage during loading or unloading
As you load and unload your goods, we are not responsible for damage caused by you or your helpers during loading or unloading. Where our driver helps with an item, we will be responsible for damage caused by the driver's failure to use reasonable care.
Please check your goods at delivery and tell us about any visible damage or missing items as soon as possible, ideally before the driver leaves. This helps us investigate; it does not remove your legal rights if a problem is only discovered later.
19. Events outside our reasonable control
We are not responsible for delays or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, road closures, serious traffic incidents or vehicle breakdowns that we could not reasonably have prevented. We will contact you as soon as possible and offer a new date or a full refund of anything you have paid for the services not provided.
20. Changes and cancellations by you
Please contact us as soon as possible to change or cancel a booking. Our Cancellation and Refund Policy explains the charges and refunds and forms part of these terms.
21. Cancellations by us
We may cancel a confirmed booking if the goods are materially different from your description, are prohibited or unsafe, or if access is unsafe. We may also need to cancel if we cannot fulfil the booking. If we cancel because we cannot fulfil the booking, you will ordinarily receive a full refund of everything you have paid.
22. Payments
Deposits, balances, refunds and late payments are explained in our Payment Policy, which forms part of these terms. The deposit is part of the total agreed price, not an additional charge.
23. Complaints, claims and disputes
If you are unhappy, please contact us on 0800 007 6666 or at info@abtransport.co.uk with your booking reference, a description of the problem and any photographs. We will acknowledge your complaint and try to resolve it fairly and promptly.
24. Privacy and photographs
We use your personal information and any photographs you upload only to assess, arrange and provide your booking, as explained in our Privacy Policy. Photographs are stored privately and are only accessible to the business owner.
25. Your statutory rights and cancellation rights
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to services carried out with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, consumers usually have a 14-day right to cancel contracts made at a distance (for example online, by email or by telephone). Some exceptions may apply to transport-of-goods services booked for a specific date or period, but we do not assume every booking is exempt.
26. Applicable law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
27. Intellectual property
