A to B Transport runs a general van and driver service. We take the safety of our drivers, our customers, our vehicle and the public seriously. This policy explains which goods we cannot carry, what we ask of customers, and when we may decline a job.
Goods we do not transport
- Drugs and controlled substances: Illegal drugs, or controlled substances being transported unlawfully.
- Illegal goods: Stolen property, counterfeit goods and any other items obtained illegally.
- Weapons and explosives: Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks and prohibited weapons.
- Fuels and flammable items: Petrol, diesel, gas cylinders, flammable liquids and any other dangerous or combustible substances.
- Hazardous chemicals: Corrosive substances, poisons and toxic materials.
- Radioactive and biological hazards: Radioactive or infectious materials, and hazardous biological materials.
- Hazardous and regulated waste: Hazardous waste, and any waste that needs specialist registration or transport arrangements.
- Unsafe or undeclared goods: Anything unidentified, suspicious, leaking, poorly packaged or incorrectly declared.
- Anything else we cannot carry safely or legally: Any goods that cannot legally or safely be carried in our vehicle, or that are excluded by our insurance.
Some goods are legal to own but still unsuitable for our general service, because they need a specialist vehicle, authorisation, insurance or handling. If you're unsure about an item, please call us on 0800 007 6666 before you book.
Your responsibilities
When you book with us, you must:
- Give an accurate and complete description of everything being moved, including what is inside boxes and sealed packages.
- Confirm that you own the goods, or have the legal authority to arrange their transport.
- Make sure all goods are legal, suitably packaged and safe to transport.
- Make sure suitable people are available to load and unload the van at both addresses.
- Tell us in advance about anything unusually heavy, fragile or valuable, or anything that needs special handling.
- Never hide prohibited or dangerous items among household goods or inside other packages.
Our right to refuse transport
Before accepting a booking, we may ask for more information, photographs or reasonable proof of what the goods are.
We may refuse a collection, decline a booking or stop a job if we have reasonable concerns about:
- legality or safety
- an inaccurate description of the goods
- unsuitable packaging
- insurance restrictions.
Our driver will not be expected to open suspicious packages or handle potentially dangerous substances. Any inspection or refusal will be carried out lawfully and safely.
Your declaration
When you send a booking enquiry, you'll be asked to confirm that you have read and agree to this policy. That confirmation records your own statement about the goods. It does not mean A to B Transport has independently checked what they contain.
